# Why a physical button?

Heyou’s input direction uses a physical button, not touch sensing. “Press once” means pressing a button, not touching any part of the ring to send.

## A deliberate beginning to an expression
A physical button gives a small thought a recognizable action. That is different from typing on a phone, and from the interaction used by some touch-sensitive devices.

## A recognizable action
The button gives the sender a distinct place to begin. Follow the product instructions for the button’s actions and feedback as the device becomes available.

## If accidental presses concern you
Tell the team about the setting: hands in a pocket, holding an object or wearing gloves. Describing your routine helps explain what a comfortable interaction needs to do.
