# What happens when someone wants to end a connection?

Both people should be free to pause or stop a shared connection. For a device or account change, contact the team for the instructions that match your version.

## Starting together should leave room to stop
A shared object should not create an obligation to keep wearing it or replying. Before using one, discuss how you would communicate a pause or a decision to stop.

## Say what you want to change
Ending a relationship link, removing a device and deleting account data are separate requests. Tell the team which outcome you need so the next steps match your intention.

## Before formal procedures are published
Do not borrow unpairing or factory-reset instructions from another ring, and do not share account passwords to resolve a device issue. For a prototype or an authorized test device, ask the team for the procedure that applies to its specific version.
